About Us

Accountancy Solutions was founded in 2015 by Simon Murrells with a simple aim: to give small businesses practical accountancy support without jargon, confusion or unnecessary complexity. The practice began in Winchester, where Simon built the business after many years working within a larger accountancy firm environment, developing the technical knowledge and experience that would become the foundations of Accountancy Solutions. As the business grew, the practice evolved alongside its clients and in 2024 relocated to Portchester, placing the team closer to many of the businesses they support across Hampshire, West Sussex and beyond.

In 2021 Hannah Barnes joined the practice, initially supporting the day to day running of the business and working closely with clients on bookkeeping, digital systems and accountancy services. Before moving into accountancy, Hannah spent 15 years in senior catering management, where she developed extensive experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and operational analysis. Wanting to build a long term career focused on finance and problem solving, she retrained in accountancy while continuing to work full time. Hannah completed AAT Levels 2 to 4 through City of Portsmouth College and qualified as a Member of the Association of Accounting Technicians (MAAT) in 2020. In 2025 she became a Fellow of the Association of Accounting Technicians (FMAAT), recognising both her professional experience and commitment to the profession. Since moving into practice, Hannah has built experience across a broad range of clients and industries, helping businesses prepare accounts, resolve bookkeeping challenges and implement clearer financial systems. She particularly enjoys bringing structure and clarity to situations that initially feel overwhelming for business owners.

In 2025 Simon sold the practice to Hannah, marking the next chapter in the firm’s journey. Today, Accountancy Solutions continues to build on the values it was founded on while bringing a stronger focus on digital tools, streamlined processes and helping business owners move from paperwork overload to organised, manageable finances.
In 2026 the firm became an AAT Licensed Practice, reflecting its commitment to professional standards, ongoing development and trusted client service.
Hannah now leads the practice with a focus on approachable advice, practical digital solutions and helping business owners better understand their finances.
